Most significant with the North American herons with long legs, a sinuous neck, and thick, daggerlike Invoice. Head, chest, and wing plumes give a shaggy overall look. In flight, the Great Blue Heron curls its neck into a tight “S” condition; its wings are broad and rounded and its legs trail perfectly further than the tail.

Coloration Pattern
Great Blue Herons seem blue-grey from a distance, with a large black stripe over the attention. In flight, the upper facet in the wing is 2-toned: pale to the forewing and darker to the flight feathers. A pure white subspecies occurs in coastal southern Florida.

Habits
Looking Great Blue Herons wade slowly or stand statue-like, stalking fish together with other prey in shallow h2o or open up fields. Watch for the lightning-quick thrust in the neck and head because they stab with their sturdy charges. Their very slow wingbeats, tucked-in neck and trailing legs build an unmistakable image in flight.

Habitat

They also forage in grasslands and agricultural fields. Breeding birds Assemble in colonies or “heronries” to make stick nests superior off the bottom.
